Consumed by a flame of gold and silver light,
My pounding heart writhes in tender agony,
Aching for one more glimpse of a soul
Reflected in the calm tides of eternity;
A soul whose sigh heaves the ocean waves,
Sending them crashing down on my broken dignity;
A sigh that releases a honeyed haze
Of vivid dreams that flicker momentarily –
Dreams that torment me with their alluring clarity,
Haunt me with echoes of their sweet melody.
Although the pain is often too much to bear,
And though I hide behind a mask of cold apathy,
I know that in one tender longing gaze
Lie both my ailment and my remedy.
And though my fragile dreams are crushed
By the stony blows of a familiar disloyalty,
I remain entranced by a world contained
Within the vaults of my heart’s reality,
A world unlocked by one soul’s beauty
Whose light has guided me along the path
Towards the shrine of my heart’s inner sanctuary.
