We jumped for joy.
We screamed Thy praises
And hailed in amazement of creation.
Yet, we’re left saddened.
We swayed our arms and called out.
O God is Great. Greatest is He.
And we’re sure you joined us in our utterances of awe…
Echoing our words as we ascended
Glorifying, praising, praising and glorifying
And the elation in her voice – waiting for your arrival
You were our silent companion
Unvoiced dhikr, unsaid words
You were always, always present. Always, always there.
You bounced with us in hadra, joint us in our prayer
You travelled far and wide to show us you were here
The earth’s clay let you leave momentarily
Set your soul alive and let you journey free
You held so tight to that rope of love
So, it hurts me to say farewell
You were so peaceful when welcoming our Beloved
Mirrored bowing, the shadowed prostrations
So, as Heaven’s door welcomes you
And the Lord invites all true Servants
I pray he allows Abid to enter and bestows upon you Grace.
You remind us that everything shall perish except…
His Face.
