The lilies continue to blossom
And the orchids a flagrant orange
You brighten this room
With your mirrors of lipstick red
Kissing the pain away,
salvaging the frayed love letters
broken vases with cut wounds
and soiled graze
Seeping hollow then our mighty tears
Breathing deep into your bosom
and sinking into the valves of your inner core

You gave birth on the mudhut floor
embracing the marble tiles
and the opening of God’s Door
You sank deeper into your mediocre worlds

Then wrapped in golden luminous sarees
You draped the mannequin
With sequins and crystals
Of which he’d never imagined
And you masked your fear
With goblets of sweet milk
as the banquet spread reeked of wine
and was drenched with ruby red spills
You covered the stains with your scarlet lips
and swore to keep faithful to your treasure trove

Empowered by the pangs of childbirth
you scatter rosebud petals
And close your eyes to your bleeding heart
Seal the bruises of your fangs
And leash out to the sea of hope
And paint the world blind
